Joe Budden Not Happy With J. Cole’s Tone on ‘7 Minute Training’
On Saturday (April 6), a video surfaced on social media of Joe Budden responding to J. Cole’s song “The Joe Budden Podcast.” 7 Minute Drill,” a song that takes aim at Kendrick Lamar, who mocked him on “Like That.”
In the clip below, Joe is clearly frustrated with Cole’s tone as he addresses K-Dot on the song, which appears on his just-released mixtape, Deleted Later. The podcast king said Cole’s lyrical rebuttal made him sleepy.
“Tone. That’s my problem with this damn narcolepsy’s voice,” Joe said.
“It sounds like… if I were actively looking for police fentanyl, this is what I would use,” he continued. “I want to hear him say [Cole] Sounds alive. “

TDE members respond to J. Cole’s new Kendrick Lamar diss
Members of Kendrick Lamar’s former label Top Dawg Entertainment reacted to J. Cole’s response to Kendrick on “7 Minute Drill.”
TDE artist Reason is excited about the lyrical battle between two spitters.
“Rap is fun again, man,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter). “I hope you all understand the sport and don’t take it too seriously, at least Dot and Cole. It was just a friendly spat. I’m glad to hear neither man has any real issues. ! Just rapping!”
TDE President Terrence “Punch” Henderson also shared his thoughts on X.
“SMH. I think To Pimp a Butterfly is pretty cool,” he wrote in a series of tweets, referring to Cole’s downplay of Kendrick’s classic second album in his song “7 Minute Drill.”
Punch added: “The current rap climate has made me realize that a lot of people in the music industry are Kdot haters. Haha, you tell me you’ve been secretly hating!”
