Jessie J revealed her early breast cancer diagnosis and opened up her upcoming leave in an optimistic Instagram video and told supporters that she plans to “disappear” after her next live show.
“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” the British singer said in a clip released on Tuesday (June 3).
The 36-year-old revealed she had been diagnosed before she released her single “No Secret” in April and has been undergoing medical testing since. “I took the exam throughout the whole time,” she said.
Jessie explained that going public is both a personal and emotional decision.
“I just wanted to open up and share it, one because I was selfish and I wasn’t talking about it enough. I didn’t deal with it because I worked hard,” she said. “I also know how much of the past has shared that helped me with the love and support that others have given me and their own stories. I’m an open book.”
Jessie J plans to get out of the spotlight after performing surgery at Capital’s summer ball on Saturday (June 15).
“It’s a dramatic way to get a breast work,” she joked.
