Common’s recent appearance on girlfriend Jennifer Hudson’s eponymous talk show landed him in hot water over the topic of marriage.
The Chicago rhythm band stopped by Pete Rock’s Jennifer Hudson Show this week to continue promoting their joint record, The Auditorium Vol. 1.
At one point, Jennifer jokingly pointed out that he brought up the topic of marrying her during a recent promotion, and Common flipped the table and started peppering her with questions on the topic.
“Someone asked me about getting married, and I just answered truthfully. Tell me something your mother said: “A man knows what he wants. “I just said how I really felt,” he said. “Listen, Jennifer is the real one. If I should get married, I would marry Jennifer Kate Hudson. I’m just telling the truth. Now wait. Where do you stand on this?
She smiled and replied, “My mom is right. I think if she met you, she would say, ‘I don’t know about other people, but I’m okay with that Common.’ “I agree. I think it’s a wonderful thing, I think you’re a worthy person, and I support the idea. I think it’s a wonderful idea. Hold on for now – in due course, if it gets there That place.
“I’m listening to God more and more, and I feel like I know what the purpose is, and I feel like it’s the purpose here and now,” Common concluded.
Back in July, on “The Breakfast Club,” Common, who has never been married, said that if he ever got married, it would be with the “Dreamgirls” star.
“If I’m going to get married, it’s to her. It’s that simple,” he said after co-host Charlamagne Towers asked him about the future of their relationship.
Coleman further spoke about his romance with the singer, actress and talk show host, saying: “It’s absolutely – with all due respect to all the women I’ve dated, because it’s all love – But it’s a very healthy and beautiful relationship.”
He also spoke highly of their shared Chicago roots: “Having a lady from Chicago makes me feel like home, like I’m at home. I haven’t done that in a while, when I just go home and The people I love are together and there is no work to do.
“That really helped me make this album. [The Auditorium Vol. 1 with Pete Rock] Because to get back to your roots, you have to always charge and plug into their roots. I feel like that’s what I want to give Chicago again.
“It’s a different connection when you’re with people from your hometown,” he added.
Actress Tiffany Haddish, who dated Common from 2020 to 2021, has nothing but love for her ex-boyfriend and expressed the same love online.
Responding to an Instagram comment, Haddish said, “Well he said he wanted to marry her, he ain’t Neva said there’s no woman b4,” Haddish replied, “Exactly! I hope they actually get married.
