Jaylen Brown is having a great 2024. He won the Finals MVP. He also dated WNBA star Kysre Gondrezick. No wonder he was brave enough to collaborate on a song with ASAP Ferg. Brown released his debut single “Just Do It” on Friday, and it’s more or less what you’d expect. It’s not a bad song by any means, but it’s definitely carried by the instrumentation and featured artists. Jaylen Brown spit, but that was more of a case of not messing up than doing the right thing. “Just Do It” proves that less is more. Especially with very little rap experience.
Jaylen Brown kicked off the song. He had a lot of harsh words for his haters, which makes sense considering the Celtics’ long road to a championship. “My mind’s out of space, I’m talking about astronomy,” he raps. “A weight rests on our chests, but you’re not as strong as me. If all we do is argue, maybe you’re not the one for me.” His process was monotonous. Very monotonous. Just like that, there is no difference between bars. Supposedly, these bars aren’t bad, but since Jaylen Brown has the same process, they really run together. Luckily, ASAP Ferg shows up and adds some spice to “Just Do It.” An enjoyable song, even if it lacks a lead vocal.
