A woman who accused Jay-Z and Diddy of raping her when she was 13 has come forward in her first interview about the 2000 incident. However, she admitted she “made mistakes” in the story.
Woman gives first interview, claims Jay-Z and Diddy raped her
Last week, headlines about Jay-Z’s alleged rape of a then 13-year-old girl in 2000 swept hip-hop and beyond. On Friday night (December 13), NBC News aired an interview with the woman who made the claims. Jane Doe’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, originally filed a lawsuit against Diddy in October, and on December 8, the rape charge against Hov was amended.
In recounting what happened that night at the MTV Video Music Awards, the unnamed woman provided details in the interview of what she claimed happened to her, but there were glaring inconsistencies in her account. .
“You should always defend yourself,” said the 38-year-old woman from Alabama. She asked that her identity not be revealed.
She claimed that in 2000, a friend drove her from Rochester, New York, to New York City to attend the MTV Video Music Awards. She claims that once outside the ceremony venue, she spoke to Diddy’s limo driver, who took her to an after-party. She claims she spoke to Good Charlotte members Benji and Joel Madden at the party. A representative for the Maddens confirmed to NBC that they were not attending the VMAs and were touring the Midwest.
Jane Doe insists she was raped by Jay-Z and Diddy after she drank a drink that made her feel “dizzy” after a party. She also claimed that after the alleged sexual assault, her father picked her up and they “ridden home in silence” and “he didn’t ask me what happened.” But her father reportedly has no memory of the incident and cannot corroborate his daughter’s claims to the media. “I thought I would remember that, but I don’t,” he said.
NBC News contradicted Jane Doe, who admitted that “I made some mistakes” regarding her memory of what happened. “Honestly, the clearest thing is what happened to me,” she added. Despite the inconsistencies, the woman insisted she had been raped.
Jay-Z released a statement after the accuser was interviewed. On December 13, he wrote: “Today’s investigative report proves that this ‘lawyer’ Buzbee made false accusations against me in pursuit of money and reputation.” “This did not happen, but he told the court File a lawsuit and double down on the fact that real justice is coming and our fight to win is over before it even begins, but, soon enough, the Roc Nation founder also countersued Tony B. Tony Buzbee extortion.
On December 13, Hov’s attorney Alex Spiro submitted a letter to the judge on behalf of Jay-Z, asking that the rape lawsuit be dismissed following Jane Doe’s interview. “These shocking revelations make it clear that the claims filed by plaintiffs’ attorney Anthony Buzbee have no basis in fact,” Spiro wrote.
Diddy’s legal team provided this statement to XXL: “This week, an attorney admitted that more than 50 people falsely claimed to be victims. Yesterday, Buzbee accusers were exposed for the second time this week. This is the beginning of the end.” Such a shameful money grab.
XXL also reached out to Tony Buzbee for comment.
