Janet Jackson will receive the ICON Award and present her first television performance at the 2025 American Music Awards in Las Vegas in 2025.
The 11-time AMA champion will take the stage at the Fontainebleau Hotel on May 26, where she will be recognized for her long-term impact on music and culture.
The program producer said the award celebrates her “undeniable cultural and global reach.”
“Selling more than 180 million records worldwide, Janet Jackson became one of the best-selling artists of all time, with a series of hit songs that left an indelible impression on pop culture,” said one producer. “She is the best-selling record holder in history to make her debut on the Hot 100 charts and the first woman to debut on the top 10 on the Hot 100 chart.”

Jackson, 58, admitted the honor on Instagram shortly after the announcement.
“Thank you very much, Amas! It’s an honor. We look forward to appearing on your stage again. See you in Las Vegas!” she wrote.
It will be Jackson’s first television show since 2018, just a few days after she resumed her residency in Las Vegas on May 21.
Jennifer Lopez will host this year’s ceremony, with Kendrick Lamar leading the nomination with 10 nods.
Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan and Shaboozey followed closely.
The vote is currently open and will end on May 15.
