After a brief argument broke out behind the scenes at one of Brandy and Monica’s shows in New York, Ja Rule called out racial disparities in concert security and said what happened to him would never happen to someone like Bruce Springsteen.
The hip-hop veteran addressed the incident in a video, describing the chaotic moments that took place backstage.
According to Jia, three men tried to ambush him during the event.
“Three n#####s tried to sneak me out. It can happen to anybody, you know. It happens to players too. N#####s don’t get any points for that,” he said. “N###### tried, you know. But, no matter what we’re here, you know, no matter what.”
He recalled the melee in detail, saying he and his team, including Fat Joe and Joe’s manager Rich, were caught off guard, even though Fat Joe and his team were not involved.

“When I moved back, I was wrestling with a s###, you know, back and s###, and I might have tripped over some s###,” Ja Rule said.
Security services eventually intervened and the situation de-escalated before it spread further.
“It was a free-for-all,” he said. “So anyway, the s### just broke up and people spread out and started walking towards the stage and, of course, because the s### just dropped, I was screaming and yelling and yelling n#####, p###.”
But Ja Rule’s main problem wasn’t the attempted ambush, but how to handle the situation. He criticized the safe approach of hip-hop events compared to other types of concerts.
“I want to talk about how hip-hop concerts, white concerts, country concerts, rock concerts and pop concerts are regulated or protected,” he said. “If Bruce Springsteen was attacked in the back at a m############ concert, do you think the attacker could get out of the building without getting arrested or something? This is how they treat black people, business as usual.”
The confrontation, which took place during Brandi and Monica’s show — and not outside the restaurant as originally reported — quickly became a hot topic online.
A viral message claimed that Ja Rule jumped outside the Sei Less restaurant in Manhattan. This claim was later debunked by the rapper and the restaurant itself.
According to a statement from Sei Less, there were no incidents at their venue that night.
Ja Rule responded to the online discussion with a mix of humor and legal warning.
He also uploaded a clip of himself drinking from a red cup, laughing off the rumors.
The rapper, who has enjoyed renewed attention in recent months and recently announced that he’s going to be a grandfather, has made it clear that he won’t let misinformation define his narrative.
