On Friday, J. Cole surprised fans by suddenly dropping his new album, which “may be dropped later.”
The album has 12 songs and includes limited features from Cam’ron, Ari Lennox, Bas and Ab-Soul. Of course, the song that got the most buzz was “7 Minute Drill,” which the rapper appeared to perform on Kendrick Lamar for a short clip. On top of that, he also called his second album, To Pimp A Butterfly, boring and said it wasn’t consistent enough to hold it against him.
The album is also the beginning of a new commercial chapter for Cole, as he now appears to have signed a new licensing deal directly with Interscope Records. Today, we have week one predictions for the album. HHD reports that Cole’s latest will sell 1.40-160,000 copies in its first week, which would make it the highest-charting debut album next week.
