Eugene Henley Jr.
Henley, a long-time leader of the Crips Street gang in the 1960s Rollin neighborhood, and a self-proclaimed community activist, was accused of running a criminal business that engages in a variety of blackmail crimes, including blackmail, trafficking, fraud and murder.
The criminal lawsuit opened Tuesday (March 18), calling Henry’s organization the “big U-enterprise” and has been a mafia-like entity from 2010 to now. The business allegedly used Henry’s status and connections with street gangs to intimidate businesses and individuals in Los Angeles.
One of the worst allegations is that Henley was involved in the January 2021 murder, known as the aspiring rapper of RW, who recorded a track about Henley.
In addition to violent crimes, Henry is also charged with financial fraud. He allegedly filed a fraud application for a pandemic relief loan for Covid-19-19, claiming that his music label Uneek Music ran on a profit of $200,000 in 2019, when it actually lost $5,000.
Henry is also accused of misappropriating donations to his charity, developing options, which as a group helps youth in southern Los Angeles avoid gang violence and criminal activity.
As of Wednesday (March 19), Henry was considered a fugitive, while two other suspected members of his crime business, Sylvester Robinson and Mark Martin, were arrested. If convicted, Henry could face the highest life in federal prison. The case is the result of a four-year investigation by the FBI, IRS criminal investigation and local law enforcement agencies that aim to combat gang violence and organized crime in Los Angeles.
Henley helped start Nipsey Hussle’s career, once called the “godfather” of rap by Wiz Khalifa. Henley previously served 13 years in prison after trying to rob a deputy undercover sheriff who was 33 pounds of cocaine in 1991.
