The more popular Ice Spice becomes, the more enemies she attracts. Cleopatra is the latest artist to make indecent accusations against the “Monk” rapper. She claims her fees were not paid when she opened for Ice Spice on tour. She also said she was forced to pay for her wardrobe and hotel room. Ice Spice’s manager, James Rosemond, Jr., didn’t like what he heard. He dismissed Cleopatra’s story and accused the rapper of chasing clout because she was trying to achieve “success.”
Cleopatra shared her account in a series of Instagram videos. However, James Rosemond Jr. decided to express his displeasure on Twitter. He spent much of September 3 dismissing the idea that Ice Spice had done anything wrong. “This is what happens when an opportunity presents itself to an artist, and when the artist’s team fails to manage the artist’s expectations,” he wrote on Twitter. “If you [are] Not preparing for the opportunity and your team not moving forward appropriately, then that’s their responsibility.
Ice Spice manager denies Cleopatra’s claims
“The opening game has nothing in common with the headlines,” Rosemond continued. Remarkably, Ice Spice’s managers never mentioned Cleopatra’s name. He remains vague when it comes to the situation, but given the timing of Cleopatra’s statement and the attention it received, it’s easy to read between the lines. Rosemond accuses a rapper of using minor drama to boost his image, while Ice Spice maintains her popularity by releasing hit songs. The harshest comment, however, was undoubtedly Rosemond’s about chasing clout.
Rosemond also noted that Cleopatra’s agent urged her to air her dirty laundry online to gain sympathy. “People know how to gain influence through virality,” he explains. “They would discuss disagreements by disclosing things that could be handled on a private phone call.” Ice Spice also responded to Cleopatra’s statement via Instagram Live, but her comments were significantly more sympathetic than Rosemond’s. He really made Cleopatra look bad for pursuing him as an artist.
