While J. Cole is clearly interested in Toosii, the “Favorite Song” singer said his encounter with the Dreamviller MC as a teenager was an unforgettable experience that left a mark on him.

In a recent interview with radio host Big Boy, Tucci talked about how meeting his idol growing up in North Carolina was a pivotal moment for him in his early years as an aspiring artist. Recalling the encounter (he said he was 16 at the time), he recalled that it was a premeditated incident that he planned to deliver his music directly to J. Cole. He said that even after all these years, he still remembers the whole scene clearly.

“I remember when I first met J. Cole, I gave him my CD,” Toosii began. “In fact, he even let me meet him and give him my CD, and that was a moment I’ll never forget. I still remember the clothes I wore and everything. I remember what he was wearing.

Tucci then described how he strategically planned the meeting after learning that J. Cole often played basketball at the Boys & Girls Club in Raleigh.

“I knew he had a game there one day, so I stopped and watched him play and watch him play,” he said.

After the game, Tootsie approached Cole and showed him his CD, which included a handwritten letter.

“I stopped and watched the game after he played, and I gave him my CD, and I was like, ‘Yo, my name is Toosii, nice to meet you, man. I want to give you my CD. , hope you like it.

Tussey was stunned when Cole not only took the CD, but stopped to take a photo with him, even though Cole didn’t take a photo with anyone else.

“He stopped, took pictures, jumped in the van and put the CD in,” he said. “This is a moment I will never forget in my life.”

Despite the profound impact of this meeting, Tootsie had no further contact with J. Cole from that day on.

“I haven’t seen Cole since,” he said.

Comparing their careers, the time between these two artists in the mainstream spotlight is quite long. In fact, almost ten years! J. Cole released his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story in 2011, while Toosii released his debut album Poetic Pain in 2020.

In a way, both artists have also delivered projects this year with J. Cole’s Might Delete Later project and Toosii’s latest album JADED. Even though it’s been years since they formed, the connections they’ve made within the North Carolina music scene remain a strong driving force for Toosii.
