A new documentary series titled “How Music Became Free” will be released on June 11.
How Music Became Free details the fascinating story of how technology-driven changes transformed music in the late 1990s and early 2000s. File-sharing technology, coupled with unprecedented demand for new music, has created the means and motivation for millions of young people to engage in outright theft online.
The series is executive produced by Eminem, LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Paul Rosenberg and Steve Stout, and is adapted from the best-selling book of the same name by author Stephen Witt. The film is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television/Telepictures in association with SpringHill, Interscope Films and Shady Films.
Narrated by Method Man, the series features interviews with Eminem, 50 Cent, Timbaland, Jimmy Iovine, Rocsi Diaz, Rhymefest, Steve Stoute and more.
Dell Glover, a man from Shelby, North Carolina who became a major music leaker in the mp3 era, worked at the Universal Music CD pressing plant. The series tells his story and how his actions changed the music industry forever.
