Harvey Weinstein was reportedly hospitalized after being examined by doctors after arriving at Rikers Island in New York City on Friday. He was transferred after the Court of Appeal on Thursday overturned his 2020 rape conviction. The movie mogul’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, confirmed that his client was undergoing tests at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.
“They checked him out and sent him to Bellevue. It looked like he needed a lot of help physically. He had a lot of problems and he was undergoing all kinds of tests. Aidala said he The health situation is something of a train wreck. He also claimed that Weinstein is still as mentally strong as ever. Aidala further explained that it could take up to two weeks for state correctional agencies and prison officials to transport the inmate. He was treated very well. They even refused to give him a sip of water, food or use of the toilet,” he said. “He is a 72-year-old frail old man.”

Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer interviews media
Arthur Aidala, attorney for Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, speaks to the media on April 25, 2024 in New York. New York’s Supreme Court on April 25 overturned Weinstein’s 2020 conviction on sex crime charges, a stunning reversal in one of the defining cases of the #MeToo movement. In their 4-3 ruling, appeals court judges pointed to errors in the trial, including the admission of testimony from women who were not involved in the accusations against him. Previously, a judge sentenced Weinstein to 23 years in prison after a preliminary trial. However, he will now have the opportunity to receive a new trial following the court’s decision on Thursday. He and his legal team argued that the original trial allowed jurors to hear too much evidence that was not directly related to the specific charges on which he was tried. Emily Tuttle, a spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, told Reuters: “We will make every effort to reopen this case and remain steadfast in our commitment to survivors of sexual assault.”
Despite the news, Weinstein is still serving a 16-year sentence for rape in California in 2022. Stay tuned to HotNewHipHop for further updates on Harvey Weinstein.
