Headie One is one of the most famous rappers in the UK for many reasons. Whether it’s his enthusiasm, attention to topic, or dominance on the mic, he always offers something for everyone. Headie One displays all of these qualities on his second album, The Last One. It’s the follow-up to the Tottenham, London native’s 2020 debut record EDNA.
The first of these, “The One,” aired on streaming media in 2018, and the sequel will be released later that year. For Headie One, The Last One tells the story of his entry into the music industry and everything that followed. He explained in an interview with The Line of Best Fit, “I make a lot of music that tells stories, but I feel like those stories are all separate and independent of each other. I’ve never told the full story, from beginning to end. , about how I got into music and how things got to a certain point, that’s the story the album tells.”
Headie One believes that “Martin’s Sofa” is an extremely important track in The Last One’s ups and downs journey. Even though it originally came back last January, the song still fits seamlessly into this tracklist. It’s kind of like an homage to his friend Martin, who let him sleep over at his place when he was trying to make it in rap. It’s very touching and one of many fragile hits in this stacked project.
