David Justice faces a wave of online rebound after revealing the end of his marriage to Halle Berry because she doesn’t fit his ideas about traditional housewives.
“So, I looked at my mom, I’m from the Midwest,” Justice said in an interview aired last week. “So, in my opinion, I wanted a wife to cook, clean, traditional, you know?
He added that Berry’s lack of family habits made him together question their future. “And I was thinking, ‘Well, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to be with the kids and build a family with the family?’’
He continued: “At that time, as a young man, she didn’t cook, wasn’t clean, didn’t look like a mother, and then we started having problems.”
The former Major League Baseball star also denied long-standing rumors that cheating or external relations played a role in their split. “I would say that, we never had any questions about any women, other men.”
He said Berry’s demanding performance schedule and their time apart adds pressure. He also admitted that the relationship might be spared if they seek professional help. “Honestly, if I knew about treatment, we might have done that.”
The judge said Berry proposed to him after only five months of dating, despite doubts, and he agreed. “I said it’s okay, but I don’t know if my heart really likes it. But I don’t want her to feel sad, say no.”
He is also frustrated by the public assumption that abuse is being done during marriage.
“The most painful thing is that she makes the world think it’s me. I never appreciate it.”

Berry never publicly named someone who caused hearing loss, which she revealed in a 1996 interview.
But, shortly after the divorce, the timing of her comments sparked his speculation.
Berry never confirmed this, but in 1997 she proposed a temporary restraining order against justice, citing her concerns about her “personal safety and well-being.” Four years after the marriage, Justice and Berry divorced that year.
Social media users did not back down after hearing the justice speech.
“Lol, he really thought she would stop her acting career and become a housewife,” one user wrote. Another added: “If she was a famous actor and he was a professional baseball player, why would you need her to cook and clean if you can afford a maid’s chef???”
Others pointed to the restraining order and questioned why Justice continues to talk about Berry publicly.
“Halle Berry had to get a restraining order on this person. The fact that he was still constantly devalued her proved that he was a creep,” one said.
