Gucci Mane is mourning his former 1017 artist Enchanting, with news that the rapper has passed away.
Shade Room quoted the rapper’s team as attributing the rapper’s death to a “reported overdose.”
The rapper’s sister said earlier on Tuesday (June 11) that Enchanting was in intensive care, and it was later confirmed that she had passed away.
Enchanting signed with Gucci in 2020. 》 / No Luv (Deluxe Edition), released in February 2023.
After hearing the news, Gucci wrote on his Instagram: “So sad to have to say RIP to such a great young lady, a true star, we all miss you @luvenchanting”
In the comments on Gucci Mane’s post, many critics seemed to blame him for her death, as they cited the poor track record of many of his 1,017 signees. Although his wife, Keyshia Ka’Oir, had previously criticized him over the issue, she defended her husband in the comments.
“Let my husband go!” she said. “He signed these artists to help them and give them a better life! I wish that wasn’t the case! We love you baby girl! RIH”
Many past and present 1017 artists have been jailed in recent years, including Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, Hoodrich Paolo Juan and Mac Critter.
Last month, during an appearance on his wife’s new podcast All Things Keyshia Ka’Oir, the rap legend was asked “Why do all 1,017 of you artists keep going to jail?”
Gooch seemed shocked by the question, replying: “Well, you know, I’m one of those artists that’s always in and out of prison, and I try to help artists that I see a lot of myself in.
“That being said, you have to get over their little bumps, and I feel like if I don’t help them, who is going to help them?
“They come from the trenches, they come from poverty, so I want to help. I feel like I can understand them and what’s going on with them.
