GloRilla was one of the many stars who took to the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday (September 11) and had an explosive performance. Additionally, she performed two of 2024’s biggest hits, “Yeah Glo!” and “TGIF.” Overall, it was a fairly satisfying and entertaining show, but the rapid costume changes between songs left a lot to be desired. Minutes into her “TGIF” performance, the “Mama” songstress’ bra strap appeared to come apart and she had to hold it with one hand while tapping into the microphone in sequence to avoid exposing herself. This is not part of rehearsal…
Despite this, Glorilla remained calm and didn’t miss a beat throughout the song. The only thing that makes the issue compelling is seeing her stick to her visuals. Eventually, when the Memphis native returned and took the main stage, a backup dancer noticed the problem and fixed it so she could perform normally to close out the medley. This was a very smooth and manageable breakdown, so props to her and her team for handling it so gracefully. Her frequent collaborator Megan Thee Stallion also has some killer performances as well as hosting gigs, and it looks like we might be getting a full-length joint album from them in the near future.
GloRilla’s VMA performance
Elsewhere, though, Glorilla recently reflected on how vile behavior on social media can both inspire and anger you. It just depends on which side of yourself you let win. “I remember bookmarking this photo and telling myself ‘They messed up, too bad,'” she tweeted, citing a post that read “Gloria fell so fast and hard.” Oops,” along with a crying emoji. “Publishing is not a job, it is putting a battery on my back. I need data. Don’t let these people write stories for you. Move on!!!”
Meanwhile, we may be seeing another side of GloRilla’s artistry develop further today. She recently showed off her singing skills in a new collaboration with Muni Long, which many fans weren’t expecting. It’s not perfect (like anything else), but it will definitely lead to more dynamic performance in the future. We hope these don’t suffer from the same wardrobe malfunctions, although it’s nice to know that these aren’t an issue at all for the Big Glo.
