As she declares in her hit song “Yeah Glo!,” GloRilla has been working hard all over the place. This year, she’s been at the forefront of rap for a number of reasons, including her confidence-boosting rhymes and affable personality behind her smile. The 25-year-old Memphis rapper continues to deliver hit after hit at a fast pace like the burgers she threw at Checkers as a teenager. Her mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang and her debut album Glorious, released in the past 12 months, illustrate this point. With 2024 shaping up to be a great year and more to look forward to in the new year, she’s the right choice to be one of the latest cover stars of the magazine’s winter issue XXL.
During a break from posing for a big cover look, Glo Da P stepped out of the dome for XXL’s latest collection, sharing her thoughts on a variety of subjects straight from the top. Social media woes, advice for men, cheat codes for life, country music, hip-hop career goals and guilt are just a few of the topics she dished out.
“My biggest pet peeve on social media is people crying online,” she revealed. “Like why are you recording yourself crying? I hate it.”
GloRilla’s 2022 breakout single “FNF (Let’s Go),” featuring Hitkiid, sees her celebrating single life, but whether she’s in handcuffs or not, the Grammy-nominated rhyme is for men who are looking for a lady Offers words of wisdom. “Advice to men is how to treat women, just do the right thing, listen to them and let them manage you,” Big Glo said, emphasizing her statement with a playful look. “Like, shut up and listen.”
Many rappers are embracing their inner cowboys and cowgirls in 2024, but Glo isn’t just going with the flow; she’s a country music fan. Jelly Roll, one of the genre’s biggest stars, even expressed a desire to collaborate with her. “My favorite country artists are Shaboozey and Jelly Roll,” she shared. “I also love Morgan Wallen and Miley Cyrus. Jelly Roll from Tennessee, so I feel for him naturally, you know what I’m saying? I just love the fact that you know someone like Shabuze Guys like that, he’s African American and he you know, they don’t let people in that lane very often and then he comes in and takes over and keeps the year running with his Southern song “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” The longest-running No. 1 song, the song stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 19 weeks.
