GloRilla is proving that success shines brightest when it inspires others. On December 18, the “Glorious” creator returned to her alma mater, Melrose High School in Memphis’ Orange Mound neighborhood, with a generous donation of $25,000. Her donation will fund the creation of the Gloria H. Woods Center for Media, a state-of-the-art facility named after her real name—a commemoration that marks the anniversary of the rapper who once walked these halls A complete moment. Donations of $25,000 will support multiple transformative projects. Part of it will be used to redesign the library into a collaborative space with modern, comfortable seating and allergen-free carpeting.
During her visit, Gloria reflected on her student days and the importance of giving back to her roots. “It warms my heart to be able to create something that I dreamed of growing up,” she told the students, who received the news in advance as a Christmas gift. Her investment in Melrose High School is not just financial, but a commitment to fostering education, creativity and opportunity for generations to come.

Another part will upgrade learning software to provide students with cutting-edge tools for research and productivity. The funds will also launch the GloRilla Mentorship Program, providing personal development opportunities including field trips and direct video chats with GloRilla herself. Practical support is also included, with $2,500 allocated to the Melrose Clothes Closet, ensuring students in need have access to essentials such as toiletries and clothing. An additional $2,500 will strengthen family-school connections and promote deeper community connections through the Office of Family Engagement.
The Gloria H. Woods Media Center will open next summer as a symbol of hope and possibility for Melrose students. To them, GloRilla is more than just a star; she is living proof that dreams can come true, and that the greatest victories are yours together. Glo received two Grammy nominations in 2024 for Best Rap Song and Rap Performance. She was nominated for the first time in 2023 for her debut single “FNF (Let’s Go)”.
