Newsom slams Kid Rock after halftime criticizes

Gavin Newsom has had months of hatred with Kid Rock this week, publicly mocking the musician after conservative experts criticized the NFL’s decision to use Bad Bunny for the 2026 Super Bowl semi-finals at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The latest poke is after right-wing commentator Nick Adams posted on Twitter on X, “Kid Rock and Jason Aldean would have made a great Super Bowl halftime show. The Bad Bunny will split the Americans further.” Newsom’s press office fired backwards with a sharp response: “Error. Kid Rock has suspended his performance in California indefinitely, so he can’t perform on Super Bowl LX!!!”

Wrong. Kid Rock was suspended indefinitely for the performance in California so he couldn’t perform on Super Bowl LX! ! !

— Governor Newsom News Office (@GovPressOffice) September 30, 2025

Newsom tends to bold online characters, often using satirical and meme-style posts to troll conservative characters. On September 20, he posted on all caps: “California will suspend Kid Rock’s performance in Golden State indefinitely due to his horror music. You’re welcome! – GCN.”

This is not the first time that news magazines aim toward Detroit-born rock singers. Throughout the summer, his team shared a fake campaign-style image, “Boy Rock wants you to support Governor Newsom.” Kid Rock responded with his own poke, writing: “The only support Gavin Newscum got from me is Deez Nutz.”

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl character attracts political fire

The controversy centers on the NFL’s selection of Bad Bunny, titled the halftime show February 8, 2026. But the alliance’s decision may reflect his global popularity, not politics. Bad Bunny always ranks the most popular artists in the world and sells out the arena in North and South America.

Newsom’s digital strategy is attracting attention

Newsom’s aggressive online approach has become a decisive part of his political image. Since Donald Trump returned to national focus, the governor of California has embraced what some analysts call “wake up” messaging — trolls, memes and exaggerated rhetoric aims to conservative influencers.

According to NBC News, political strategists view Newsom’s social media strategy as a well-planned test to see whether Democrats can compete in the same digital space that has long been dominated by Republicans.

Cultural Wars continue in Super Bowl halftime

The backlash against Bad Bunny saw a pattern along with previous Super Bowl performers. Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Weeknd have faced criticism from conservative voices over the past few years. However, the NFL continues to attract global artists to attract young and more diverse audiences.

The political interests behind online disputes

For Newsom, the quarrel with Kid Rock is more than just music. It’s a way to increase his national visibility as speculation revolves around the potential presidential election in 2028. By clashing with high-profile conservative figures, Newsom seems to position itself as a digital age foil for Trump’s influence.

The NFL’s Super Bowl broadcast attracts more than 100 million viewers a year, and it remains one of the most obvious stages in American culture. There is still more than a year left before the game in 2026, and I hope more political voices will be aggravated.

A half-time show by Bad Bunny is scheduled for February 8, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
