Gabrielle Union revealed that she and her husband Dwyane Wade caused a heated online debate after everything including Bills, but she has since reevaluated her views on 50/50 Dynamic.
The Bration It on Star, who married the NBA legend in 2014, waved the waves for the first time in 2023, admitted on the Black Millionaire podcast that they allocated all their fees equally.
“In this family, we’ve kept everything apart,” she explained, adding that she still has a “scarce mindset” among the rising actors in Hollywood.
“I still struggle with it,” she admitted. “I think I have more responsibility for my money.”
But the therapy helped her realize it was a “traumatic response” rooted in fear rather than equality.
“I famously say, ’50/50 or bust,” Gabriel United said in a new interview with the Balanced Black Girls podcast. “And I mean financially, mentally and emotionally. There are only a lot of days I have 10%, I need 90% of him. There are days I don’t have ###, I need him 100%.
She continued, “50/50 is, ‘I won’t be vulnerable to 100% trust.” Not my heart, not my cash. ”
United explained that she initially struggled with the change, especially when Wade asked her to take over the mortgage.
“I thought I was going to die,” she recalled, describing how anxiety caused her to cry and her body to tremble. “He’s like, ‘You stick to that.’ He’s like, ‘I think it makes you feel better. “I thought, “I did it, now I want to get it back.” ‘”
Still, the situation eventually brought them closer.
“Because he knows it’s not affordable for him,” Union said. “It’s very vulnerable, open enough to know I’m OK. I’m his wife. He’s OK like my husband. I’m OK in this family.”
