Then, on September 9, Hendrix raised expectations by releasing a trailer for the new product, which was officially announced two days later.
Immediately after Future and Metro Boomin concluded their We Trust You tour in Vancouver on September 9th, Hendrix announced to the public that he was ready to release Mixtape Pluto. Future posted cover art for the tape as well as a new line of Mixtape Pluto merchandise on Instagram on September 10, noting that September 20 is the day the long-awaited project will see the light of day.
“Fuck the publicity,” he writes in the mixtape release announcement below. “I pulled this out of the mud. MIXTAPE PLUTO 9-20-24.”
The cover art for Future’s Mixtape Pluto is a photo of the house where The Dungeon studio is located. “Dungeon” is set in the basement of Atlanta producer Rico Wade’s mother’s house. Rico Wade is a key figure in the production collective Organized Noize and a founding member of Dungeon Family. Wade played an important role in the production of albums such as OutKast and Goodie Mob. He died in April this year. Wade is Future’s cousin who inspires Future to become a rapper. The Mixtape Pluto cover is a dedication to Wade’s legacy.
