Rapper G. Dep, one of the stars to emerge from Diddy’s Bad Boy Records label, has been released from prison after more than 13 years in prison.
The 49-year-old, whose real name is Treville Coleman, was one of 16 people granted mercy by New York State Governor Kathy Hochul late last year. After his sentence was reduced, he was eligible for parole earlier than his original date of 2025.
The New York native was eventually released from prison on April 4, documenting the experience on his official Instagram for the world to see. He was welcomed with a prayer circle outside Fishkill Correctional Facility in upstate New York and then enjoyed his first meal since release at iHop.
In 1993, the then eighteen-year-old rapper tried to rob someone in East Harlem, New York. In response to the victim’s resistance, Depp fired three shots at the victim, later identified as 32-year-old John Hankel, and then left the scene without checking on him. After battling drugs, Depp walked into a police station in 2010 and eventually turned himself in, and was jailed two years later.
