Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Tyson was nearly 60 when he was fighting and Mayweather turned 48 in February, and he agreed to the unapproved round that would not affect Mayweather’s spotless 50-0 professional record.
The game is called pure entertainment, not a competitive game, especially given the big gap in age, weight and fighting style.
Mike Tyson shocks Floyd Mayweather
“When CSI came to me to talk about boarding the ring with Floyd Mayweather,” Tyson said in a press release. “I thought, ‘No way to happen’, but Floyd said yes. This battle is neither a world that I nor would have thought of or could have happened. But boxing enters a new era of unpredictable-this battle is unpredictable. I still can’t believe Floyd wanted to really do it.
Tyson is a former heavyweight terror with a record of 50-7 and 44 knockouts, losing Jake Paul for the last time at the 2024 exhibition. Mayweather last fought professionally in 2017 and has since participated in several exhibitions, maintaining his brand and unbeaten legacy.
“I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there’s not a single fighter that can destroy my legacy,” Mayweather said. “You already know that if I’m going to do something, it’s going to be big, it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the boxing industry. This exhibition will give fans what they want.”
Physical mismatch is hard to ignore. Tyson usually walks around 230 to 240 pounds, while Mayweather hovers around 150. Tyson’s 71-inch distance is within reach, one inch shorter than Mayweather’s 72-inch, but with a huge difference in size and power
