Fetty Wap has been released from federal prison after serving more than three years.
The Breakfast Club’s Loren Lorosa shared a video of the newly released New Jersey rapper on social media on Thursday (January 8). The video shows Fetty briefly talking to several people in a conference room about his return. Fetty also released an official statement to XXL.
“I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for their love, prayers, and continued support — it truly means everything to me,” the statement read. “Currently, my focus is on giving back through my community initiatives and foundation, supporting at-risk young children by expanding educational opportunities, early technology skills, and vision care for young children and students so they can be their best selves. I am committed to moving forward with purpose and making a meaningful impact where it matters most.”
In August 2022, Fetty pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances in connection with a multi-state drug trafficking operation following his arrest last year. In May 2023, he was sentenced to 72 months in prison.
While in prison, Fetty warned fans not to choose the same path as him in an exclusive interview with XXL.
“If I can say anything, man, anybody who really pays attention to me, man, is like choosing a different life, because it’s weird, man,” he said. “I hate being here. I hate being away from my kids. I love driving. I love enjoying myself, but I can’t do one of my favorite things, which is record music, you know what I’m saying? I’m on time. Count the hours, have to get up. You have to do what they say because you have no control here.”
Fetty has served about 40 months in prison and appears to have put his plan into action.
