FBG Duck’s mother says a judge has ruled that she can continue her wrongful death lawsuit against Lil Durk.
Duck’s mom, LaSheena Weekly, shared a post on Instagram on Tuesday (January 13) to update her followers on the more than year-long legal battle.
“A step forward,” the post read. “The ruling is in and my son has a victory in court. The court ruled that we can move forward with our lawsuit against Lil Durk and the record label. Our fight continues.”
Back in October 2023, Weekly filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Lil Durk, King Von, their record label, the city of Chicago, Dolce & Gabbana, two private security companies, and the six men who shot Duck outside a D&G store in Chicago’s Gold Coast area.
The lawsuit alleges that Durk and the label knew that Von “had a hatred for FBG Duck … and remained committed to building a violent and realistic rap brand based on real acts of violence committed against FBG Duck and the public at large. They knew that realistic rap, violence, controversy, complaints and notoriety would be beneficial in driving increased record sales, streams and views, building the brand and profiting from the violent image.”
The lawsuit also alleges that the Dolce & Gabbana store where Darke was standing outside when he was killed failed to provide adequate security, and accuses the Chicago Police Department of failing to quickly care for Darke after he was shot. Last July, Weekly reached an undisclosed settlement with Dolce & Gabbana.
Nine months ago, six men from Chicago’s O-Block neighborhood were convicted of the brazen shooting death of FBG Duck. Neither Feng nor Duke has been charged with Duck’s murder.
