Skilla Baby is still caring for his head, arms and legs when he decides to recover completely. The Detroit rapper entered Compton College in just one week of hard-working attempts, determined to deliver on his promise that appeared for his children.
He shared a heartfelt video of his prayers ahead of the shooting, a weird contrast to what is about to happen. However, most people may use most people’s fuel for Skilla Baby’s purposes.
During the event, hosted by Make Your Way Foundation, Skilla distributed clothes, spoke directly to city students about education and urged them to choose a path beyond street life.
“A week after being shot to kill Skilla Baby, he flew to Compton College to support your own city center foundation,” his manager Roccett said. “He sent out clothes and talked with the kids about staying in school, staying on the street and being everything they wanted.” Absent was his iconic location.
Although the Skilla team was concerned about their health, he refused to sit down.
“We asked him to stay at home to heal, but he insisted that he was there and show up with the kids anyway,” Rochett added.
This moment of resilience is no surprise for those following Skilla’s rise. His name has become synonymous with gritty lyricism and primitive authenticity, but he also makes it clear that his thinking outside of the microphone.
In a previous AllhipHop interview, Skilla Baby expressed her desire to expand her artistic qualities into the film. “I want to start acting one day,” he said. “It’s like it’s really like in some movies, not just a rapper that pops up in a scene. I want to be a real actor.”
Now, this long-term mindset adds weight to his recovery. Not only survival, but also development. Even though the bullet is still under his skin, he shows that he is built for something bigger.
