Lil Durk urged his federal murder to be abandoned, claiming that prosecutors are hiding key facts that would allow him to make a fair defense in court.
The Chicago-born rapper is accused of plotting a plot to kill a man identified as Quando Rondo in revenge on his close friend Feng Feng who killed him in 2020.
Prosecutors accused Durk of using coded messages and collectively committed cash or music transactions through his sole family (OTF) to inspire hit rates.
Durk instructed his crew to fly from Chicago to Los Angeles in August 2022 to kill Quando Rondo, who managed to escape the spacious sunlight shooting at the gas station, federal authorities said.
Quando Rondo’s cousin Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson was shot dead in a violent dispute.
Prosecutors claimed Durk arranged vehicles, weapons and ski masks for ambush. Durk’s legal team – Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, Jonathan Brayman and Christy O’Connor – seeking the indictment is vague and lacks the details needed to prepare for a trial.
“While the indictment alleges that accomplices had carried out various actions in the direction of Mr. Banks, they flew towards Los Angeles; stalking, stalking and trying to kill [Quando Rondo] gunshots; and procure guns and equipment used to do so – it cannot provide any details. When, where, how, and to whom did Mr. Banks give directions to these allegations? To ensure the basic fairness of the trial, the defense has the right to know. ” Fenlin said.
The indictment accuses Durk of setting bounty for anyone who commits to the murder and providing “profitable music opportunities.” Defense lawyers say the government has not yet determined who has received the message, what the so-called code word is, or when and where the offer is made.
They believe that the lack of details violates Durk’s constitutional rights and may lead to a conviction based on unclear or diverted charges.
“What the indictment doesn’t tell us is something the defense has the right to know: the ‘act fact’ of the government’s theory of guilt against Mr. Banks. There is no charge here that Mr. Banks stalked and shot during the argument,” Findling added.
The defense filed a motion to dismiss the charges, or at least force prosecutors to provide detailed details.
Duke remains in custody after being arrested near Miami International Airport on October 17, 2024.
The hearing for the motion is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on November 18, 2025, facing U.S. District Court Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald in Los Angeles.
