Jay-Z is fighting to expose John Doe’s true colors in court, citing his recent victory over Diddy in his battle against his anonymous accuser.
Jay-Z made one thing clear: If Jane Doe wants to continue to accuse him, she won’t do it in the shadows.
Jay-Z’s legal team told an Alabama federal judge that the woman who claims he raped her with Diddy should not be granted permanent anonymity in his defamation case, according to documents obtained by AllHipHop.
Jay-Z’s attorneys just handed down a new ruling in New York’s 2nd Circuit Court in which several anonymous Diddy accusers were told they can’t hide their identities in similar lawsuits.
The women, who were represented by the same attorneys who now support Jane Doe, failed to show they faced any real danger from the use of their names, according to the appeal ruling.
Jay-Z is now using Diddy’s ruling as ammunition, arguing that the same logic applies to his case and that he will be “highly prejudiced” if Jane Doe continues to be masked while attacking him.
His side said the onus was on Doe to prove she should use a pseudonym and insisted she had not come close to proving a concrete risk of harm.
The woman initially accused him and Diddy of raping her at the 2000 MTV VMAs afterparty when she was just 13 years old.
Jay-Z’s argument centers on audio recordings obtained by a private investigator in which Jane Doe allegedly admitted that she fabricated the accusations at the direction of attorney Tony Buzby.
According to the documents, Doe was recorded saying, “Buzbee brought Jay-Z into this,” indicating that she never authorized attorneys to include the rapper in her original lawsuit against Diddy.
Her original case was dismissed with prejudice in February 2025, meaning it could not be re-filed, and Jay-Z subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit seeking more than $20 million in damages.
He argued that having her hide her identity would create an uneven battle, making it harder to unearth her background, motivations and credibility when she keeps her name in the headlines.
All in all, the latest filings reveal that Jay-Z isn’t just celebrating the dismissal of his old New York case; He is actively trying to expose Jane Doe’s true nature and is using Didi’s court victory to do so.
