Erica Banks was arrested yesterday near Atlanta for possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute.
Dallas rapper Erica Breaux was arrested during a traffic stop on Monday (December 8) in Brookhaven, about 20 miles outside of Atlanta. Banks was charged with possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance – ecstasy – with intent to distribute. She was being held at the DeKalb County Jail and released just after midnight on Tuesday (December 9).
Details about the incident are sparse. XXL has reached out to the Brookhaven Police Department and Banks’ attorney for comment.
This is the second time Erica Banks has been arrested in Georgia in less than a year. Back in August, the Transportation Security Administration discovered a firearm in her carry-on luggage while she was trying to board a flight to Houston at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
She denied any knowledge of the weapon. The gun, a black and gray Smith & Wesson, was revealed to have been stolen from South Carolina in 2018. As a result, Banks was booked into the Clayton County Jail and charged with larceny for receiving stolen property.
“We believe that when she was arrested with this weapon, she did not know it was stolen,” Banks’ attorney, Jackie Patterson, said at the time. “So she was not guilty of any crime. Once we take this case to court, it will be my job to make sure this never becomes part of her criminal history and that these charges are dismissed.”
The case appears to remain open.
