“Stan”, accused of intimidating Eminem, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for breaking into the rapper’s home.
Matthew David Hughes, 32, was found guilty of first-degree family invasion and aggravated stalking after being convicted of 2024 intrusion in Clinton Township Property, Eminem on May 7.
Hughes was sentenced to a harsh sentence on Tuesday, June 17, for illegally entering the rapper’s home on two different occasions.
In April 2020, he smashed a window with bricks and entered while Eminem was asleep. The rapper testified that Hughes told him he “killed him there” before being securely subdued and later arrested.
Hughes pleaded guilty to a second-degree home invasion in 2021 and was suspended and credited for hours of service. But he violated the probation and returned to Eminem’s property in August 2024.
During the second invasion, Hughes slid over an unlocked door, stole a bicycle, was found safely and fled. Four days later, he was arrested at nearby Walmart.
Eminem once again faces his stalkers during the Michigan court showdown, and he again faces him when he testifies during the May trial.
The two-day lawsuit ended and jurors considered less than 30 minutes before the verdict was made.
The court issued a contactless order prohibiting Hughes from communicating with Eminem.
Prosecutors argued that his repeated actions showed obvious obsession and dangerous patterns.
The verdict closed a year-long legal legend that began with a break-in in 2020 and escalated on its return in 2024, despite prior legal consequences.
Hughes will be eligible for parole after being imprisoned for at least 18 years.
