Eric Murphy and Jasmine Lawrence just revealed some big family news.
The couple announced that they are expecting their first child. Eric posted a maternity photo on Instagram on Monday. Jasmin looked radiant in a strapless dress that showed off her growing baby bump.
“Thank you Jesus for giving us the greatest gift,” they wrote together.
Eric is Eddie Murphy’s eldest son. Jasmine is Martin Lawrence’s eldest daughter. The pregnancy news means the two comedy legends will soon be grandfathers.

Martin Lawrence has shared his excitement about becoming a granddad. He posted maternity photos of the couple on his Instagram.
“What a blessing to start the day! My heart is filled with so much love and gratitude after announcing the birth of my first grandchild!” Martin wrote. “Watching Jassim and Eric begin their journey to parenthood means everything to me.”
The couple tied the knot in May 2025. They held a private church ceremony, just the two of them and a priest. Eddie Murphy revealed the news of her marriage on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” last year.
“They left and everyone was making big wedding plans, and then they decided they just wanted to do something quiet with the two of them,” Eddie said at the time.
Eric and Jasmin first went public with their relationship in June 2021. They got engaged in November 2024 after more than three years of dating. Eric proposed by decorating the room with candles and rose petals.
Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence have been close friends for decades. Together they starred in early ’90s films such as “Boomerang” and “Life.”
Their families are now officially connected through marriage and will soon have grandchildren.
Fans are already joking about the baby’s comedic potential. Eddie previously told the CBS Morning Show that he hopes his future children will be “interesting” because of the gene pool.
