Drake and Ebro Darden go back and forth like a guest song, a strange mix of ego, emojis and old wounds.
You already know or should know this story. Now I’m talking about a negative turn. Drake essentially threatened Ebro. “Slow down and die. We’ve got something for you,” if said around the block, means it’s definitely time to leave. What Drake meant in the direct message was: “I’m going to tell the world and fuck the snitches (in a legitimate way).” By the way, all of these people grew up. Regardless, Ebro, Laura and Peter researched their options online, including taking legal action. They joke, but Peter Rosenberg says he has a lot of lawyers in his family. I think they are serious.
The consequences of the sudden end to the Ebro morning race have taken a sharp left turn. Things started innocently enough, until Drake dropped an ax emoji underneath the Instagram post announcing the cancellation of the long-running Hot 97 morning show. mean! Ebro and the gang took a close look at Drake during the Kendrick Lamar fight… like half the world away.
Ebro may have felt that the situation had escalated beyond emojis. “Die slow” is a true message. There is a saying on the Internet. Peter Rosenberg may be on to something. This isn’t a competitive jab or a one-upmanship over the music. This is personal.
Ebro also shared an old DM from 2020, showing the mutual respect between the two. Damn… at one point, we had a great relationship. What makes the situation particularly disturbing is the imbalance. Drake is powerful and Ebro is a media figure who just lost his job. When we really wanted to get him back into the music, it felt like a classic hit. The jokes are getting less and less funny.
There’s a fine line between competition and tragedy. A line may have been crossed, but we’ll have to wait and see.
On the other hand, Ebro in the Morning…has a new name. All Hip Hop TV! I’m kidding, but they won’t be able to take away the name or the 4 million subscribers. Damn it. The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show is now live.
stay tuned!
