Drake is a movie buff. He started out as an actor and has made many references to movies in his lyrics. He also likes to post clips of movies out of context on Instagram. Six Gods did just that in the Kendrick Lamar battle. He decided to give fans another reference on September 23rd. This specific conversation led fans to think he was talking about the recent bragging scandal.
These screenshots are of Ryan Gosling’s character in The Big Short. The character clearly differentiates between what he does and what his colleagues do after get off work. “I’ve never hung out with any of these idiots after get off work,” the character says. “I have fashion friends.” Drake made it very clear where he drew the line between himself and other rappers. The timing seems intentional given that several rappers were rumored to have attended Diddy’s “crazy” party. Drake has yet to speak publicly about the Diddy situation. There’s definitely no love lost between him and the Bad Boy founder over the years, though.
Drake and Diddy have had issues for a decade
Drake and Diddy’s strained relationship dates back to 2014. There’s also controversy over whether Drake stole the beat from Diddy on “0 to 100.” Things got even crazier when The Game spoke with Vlad TV about the Bad Boy founder’s alleged “hit” on Drake. The Compton icon also accused Diddy of punching Drake during a particularly heated interaction.
Diddy denied the claims during an appearance on The Breakfast Club in 2014. “I didn’t attack Drake, and I didn’t want any problems for Drake,” he asserted. “Drake… now. That’s what I’m saying. He’s putting in the work.” 6 God seemed to disagree with Diddy’s friendly interpretation of the situation. The rapper took a subliminal shot at Diddy in his 2016 song “4PM In Calabasas.” He quoted Diddy’s Flow and the bar “Can’t Withoutbody Hold Me Down.” He also turned Diddy’s signature adlibs into diss. “Accept it, accept that there’s no love in their hearts, so they pretend to be that way,” he spat.
