The rollout of Drake’s upcoming album Iceman has been going pretty well, but now it’s calmed down a bit, surprising some fans. In addition to the slew of singles we can expect from Drake, he’s also narrating story segments and debuting new music during the Iceman Live broadcast, some of which will be aired live right after the episode and some of which we haven’t heard yet.
As fans eagerly await episode four, Drake gave Complex a rare interview via email, in which he talked about the livestreams, explaining why he wanted to do them in the first place, the interesting logic of the series, and more. Much to the relief of fans, he did confirm that at least one more episode is in the works, promising that the finale will be their best work yet.
Drake told Complex that he felt there was something quiet in the music and that he had always had a desire to perform, which is how the idea for the stream came about. He also said that he studied real-life streamers (such as Speed and Adin Ross) and liked the unpredictable energy of them. He also spoke about the infamous moment he pressured a fan who called him a “bitch.” See excerpts below and the full interview here. Maybe this means we can look forward to the fourth live broadcast this Friday?
I wouldn’t even say I broke character, because that’s Iceman shit—you can’t page me while I’m driving around spreading good vibrations. “He started moving fast after that,” he added, laughing. No more talking. “
