Drake posted his betting stubs just hours before the Paul vs. Tyson fight. “I’m late but my money is on liiiiiiine today,” he wrote on Instagram. “Omg @stake I need some dubs.” Well, he didn’t get them. Drake and Young Money alum Tyga bet big on Mike Tyson, hoping he would pull off a surprise, but he never did. In fact, fans in the crowd began to boo during the later rounds, with many generally assuming that Paul went easy on Tyson out of respect for him. DJ Akademiks announced the news on Twitter. He also decided to mock Drake for losing yet another huge sports bet.
Drake continues losing streak on sports bets
“Drake, my man,” Ake tweeted. “But when I saw him betting on Tyson, I knew he lost.” In fact, this sentiment was echoed within the Twittersphere. Many people were betting on Mike Tyson to win, but they were shocked to see Liushen putting money on their side. The memes are so plentiful that even professional accounts like ESPN Bets are getting in on the action. They posted a GIF of a panicked Jon Bernthal in The Punisher, with the following text: “Mike Tyson after seeing Drake Bet on him to win and start placing your bets.
Other fans’ reactions were more vitriolic. “Mike Tyson may not win, but at least Drake loses,” one wrote on Twitter. Then one user pointed out, as we did at the top, that Drizzy has really had a brutal year. “This guy can’t catch a break this year,” they pointed out. We could list other titles provided by fans, but we thought a roundup of the most interesting and noteworthy reactions to The Drake Curse would be more effective. Check out our top picks below.
