Drake fans are losing their minds on social media, claiming J. Cole has switched sides after appearing on Future and Metro Boomin’s We Still Don’t Trust You cut “Red Leather.”
The second part of their joint album series was released at midnight on Friday (April 12). Their debut sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community and sparked weeks of debate.
Kendrick Lamar declared war on Drake and Cole on the project. He said “M######### The Big Three/This is me” in “Like That”. Fans also speculated that the title track of the album is Future diss Drake.
Kerr fired back during the “7-minute drill,” then dramatically walked back his remarks and apologized to Lamar, sparking uproar and heated debate among fans.
However, Cole, fresh off a joint tour with the Canadian superstar, doubled down on “Red Leather,” sparking a backlash from Drake fans.
“My energy was never focused on some of the hardest n#### s####/I’m just a conscious rapper who f### an #### b####… . ..blicks explode/I turned into a track star,” Cole raps on the track.
In addition, listeners believe A$AP Rocky was also involved in this action, criticizing Rihanna to Drake on “Show Your Hands.”
After the album was pulled as fans shared their reactions, “We Still Don’t Trust You” tied with “Red Leather” and “Rocky” at No. 1 on X (formerly Twitter).
Meanwhile, Drizzy and KDot are rumored to be preparing a “core” diss track. Maybe Drake might have a few words to say about Cole’s withdrawal and appearance on “Red Leather.”
