Kanye West abandoned his long-awaited album Donda 2 on major streaming platforms on Wednesday (April 30), just tugging it a few hours after a payment dispute with the producer.
West initially released the project specifically in 2022 through its STEM player device.
But this week, the album briefly surfaced on Spotify and YouTube music before being knocked out after Free Maiden’s legal threat.
While chatting with Allhiphop, Free Girl provides more details about the controversy with West.
“You choose to run, hide, hide and steal our ### in a row!” said the free girl. “Why do you think you have the right to continue stealing from us and profiting from the work? This is a very poor landlord. He got on the phone like a man.”
Free Maiden stands for Jahmal “Boogz da Beast” Gwin and Brian “Allday” Miller, who produced 8 of the 18 songs on the album.
“This guy has been stealing for years, but I’ve been protecting him,” Liberty Girl told Allhiphop. “I’ve tried nine digits in my past attempts. Now wear gloves.”
Donda 2’s short look on streaming marks the album’s first wide release outside West’s platform. The project has long been “lost” by listeners due to limited releases and lack of official releases.
The latest dispute adds to West’s turmoil, who was banned from Twitch just seven minutes after his debut last week.
As of Wednesday night, Donda 2 was still out of service with major streaming services, but West hinted that he wanted to make a friendly solution.
“I really want to work with Brian and Bougez,” he tweeted. “I really want to solve this problem.”
