Donald Trump has always been big on hip-hop. For the past eight years, the billionaire entrepreneur-turned-U.S. president has been pandering to rap fans in ways that mostly look like a sick joke or a real-life episode of The Boondocks.

The former president’s first big fish came in December 2016, when he had a highly publicized photo opportunity at Trump Tower with Ye, who was criticized for announcing his support for Trump during a show last month. to boos. Their relationship has been a roller coaster ride since then, but it seems to have led Trump to feel that associating with the rapper could gain him influence. He’s been tapping into that formula and hip-hop culture ever since.

In 2020, after discovering Lil Pump was a fan of his, Trump invited the South Florida rapper to speak at a campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan. name, only Pump’s name was mentioned.

That doesn’t mean The Donald doesn’t have some real supporters in the hip-hop community. Waka Flocka Flame has an undying loyalty to 45 that doesn’t seem to have any ulterior motives, despite initially despising Trump and even wiping his butt with a Trump jersey in 2017. Received a federal prison sentence commutation from Trump in 2017. Despite not voting for Trump in the 2020 election, Lil Pump is working harder than the pyramid schemes to get The Donald back in office this year.

Of course, Trump helped get A$AP Rocky out of a Swedish prison in 2019. Tools used in your career? Let’s keep it as a stack.

Two impeachments, a failed civil lawsuit and a scheme by a convicted felon to win the election, Trump is once again trying to appeal to voters through hip-hop and his coalition is getting increasingly comical. In May, he invited Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow to speak at a Trump rally in the Bronx. The two rappers also have an open gang racketeering case. Recently, Icewear Vezzo, Peezy and OT7 Quanny have publicly met with Trump.

In mid-July, Amber Rose appeared at the Republican National Convention and spoke passionately about Trump. The Trump campaign’s labeling of her as a rapper on the monitor announcing her presence raised a lot of eyebrows, no doubt intentional. For the record, Amber is not a rapper. According to podcast host and media personality Van Lathan, Trump also played a song and music video by pro-MAGA rapper Forgiato Blow during the convention, featuring Amber Rose. In the video, they rap, “Baby, we voted for Donald Trump,” inspired by Vanilla Ice’s 1990 classic “Ice Ice Baby.” There were even rumors that the presidential candidate invited 50 Cent to perform live after Trump was assassinated. Fif’s representatives denied he would appear at the RNC.

The guy who wants police immunity can’t really be disappointed in the culture that gave birth to the rebellious hit record “F**k the Police.” No sane person would believe Trump’s love for hip-hop. Hopefully this will all be over by November.
