Ye and Donald Trump’s rocky relationship explained
In the early days of their platonic relationship, everything seemed fine between Ye and Donald Trump. The Chicago rapper first met Donald Trump in 2016 at Trump Tower in New York City. Artists including Common, John Legend and YG have all expressed their displeasure in the wake of their encounters. In 2018, Ye and Trump sat down at the White House, where the rapper suggested “abolition” of the 13th Amendment, among other ideas. Things took a turn between the two men once Mr. West decided to run for president in 2020. In 2022, after Ye made a series of anti-Semitic remarks, Trump jumped on his Truth social account to call the rapper a “seriously troubled man.”
