Chris Brown’s legal troubles and history of abuse are explored in a new documentary from Investigation Discovery, from the same network that exposed child abuse in Nickelodeon’s “Quiet on the Set.”
According to “Variety”, “Chris Brown: A History of Violence” will launch ID’s third annual “No Excuse for Abuse” campaign on October 27.
The documentary will explore the legal challenges pop star Chris Brown, known for hits like “With You,” “Forever” and “Under the Influence,” has had to deal with, including sexual assault charges and domestic abuse charges. The singer’s problems began in 2009 when he seriously injured his then-girlfriend Rihanna’s face, requiring hospitalization.
Over the next few years, Chris pleaded guilty to another assault and was sued by a woman who accused him of sexual assault (the lawsuit was settled out of court), as well as various other legal issues.
The synopsis says that “Chris Brown: A History of Violence” will chart “Chris Brown’s past, stretching all the way back to his troubled childhood, exploring the lasting effects of the cycle of abuse and asking the question: What can a man with such an experience do?” Do Public Documents of Violence Sustain Superstar Status? Featuring expert and cultural commentary throughout, the documentary offers a thoughtful reflection on each survivor’s experience and the psychological devastation that follows abuse.
The documentary airs on ID on October 27 at 9pm, followed by a conversation about intimate partner violence hosted by “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin.
