DJ Clark Kent has died aged 58 after a battle with colon cancer.

The beloved record spinner’s family announced Clark’s untimely death in a message posted on his Instagram on Friday (October 25).
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of the beloved Rodolfo A. Franklin, known to the world as DJ Clark Kent,” the message began. ” Clark passed away on Thursday night, surrounded by his devoted wife Kesha, daughter Cabria and son Antonio.”
“Clark quietly and courageously fought a three-year battle with colon cancer while continuing to share his gifts with the world,” the statement continued. “The family thanks everyone for their love, support and prayers during this time and asks that They are being given privacy as they deal with this huge loss.”
Clark’s contemporaries shared kind thoughts about the DJ in the comments section of the post.
“I’ve known you since I was 13,” Pitlock wrote. “Took the train all the way to Brooklyn just to practice and DJ with you. From the rooftops to Union Square Latin Quarter and hanging out at Madison Square Garden. To DJ with you on the radio. You showed me the DJ program in my basement I knew you were the right person if I wanted to improve my skills, thank you for everything you taught me and the special memories, but I’m so sad but you accomplished so much and then to be a part of .
“Damn,” DJ Kid Capri typed. “My brother passed away. It was an honor to know him. I will always cherish our conversations. He was a unique man. The world lost a great and peaceful journey, my brother.”
Clark’s death comes after premature rumors of his death circulated on social media last week.
DJ Clark Kent is a stalwart of the hip-hop community. In addition to becoming one of hip-hop’s elite record producers, he also produced classic records such as Jay-Z’s “Brooklyn’s Finest,” The Notorious BIG’s “Sky’s the Limit” and Junior MAFIA’s “Player’s Anthem.” He is also an avid shoe collector.
