DJ Akademiks doesn’t think Lil Yachty is the kind of friend Drake needs right now, but wants the Toronto rapper to have a “delusional” friend who will support him no matter what. He made the comments in response to Yachty discussing the feud on his “Safe Space” podcast and acknowledging that he respects both Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
“Yachty, fuck you, but I have to agree with this fan,” he began, citing a user who criticized Yachty for not standing up for Drake more. “If I were Drake, I’d need a delusional friend to be with me. I’d need a friend where I’m drunk in a club and I’m tripping all over the place and I step on someone’s foot by mistake, but Then that guy my delusional friend pushed me and instead of trying to figure out, “Oh, you actually stepped on his foot first,” my delusional friend just punched me in the shoulder.” Why the hell did you touch Acker? We can talk about other things later, I need my delusional friends right now and that’s all we need, Drake needs one of them. From that point on, the academicians decided that Drake needed to start making some new friends.

Lamar actually called out Yachty in his diss song “Euphoria,” accusing him of ghostwriting for Drake. He admitted on the podcast that he wasn’t happy with the mention. “A lot of people kept calling me and texting me and were excited about my name being used, and to me, it felt like… I really didn’t want anything to do with it,” Yachiti admitted. “I have a lot of respect for both of these guys. It was honestly cool to watch. I learned a lot. It was an honor and a blessing to be able to experience it firsthand.
