Diddy’s attorneys, Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, said in a letter Sunday that there was “substantial inappropriate pretrial publicity” and reiterated their request The judge presiding over the bad boy tycoon’s ongoing criminal case ordered potential so-called witnesses to stop speaking. They wrote that the alleged victims were “undermining Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial and the integrity of the grand jury process,” according to ABC News.
“The rapid spread of these stories through the media created the impression that such videos existed, which was false, and that the government actually believed his sensational claims, which was extremely biased,” the letter said. The judge previously rejected the defense’s argument that plaintiffs in civil proceedings would not be affected by this court. ABC News also noted that Diddy’s team fired back: “It makes no sense for civil litigants to attempt to exploit the criminal charges against Mr. Combs while claiming they had no involvement in the criminal proceedings.”
