Diddy’s drug mule Brendan Paul has accepted a plea deal offered by prosecutors that would allow him to avoid jail time.
TMZ spoke with Paul’s attorney, Brian Bieber, on Thursday (May 16). Bieber confirmed that his client accepted an agreement that he would attend a drug rehabilitation program and, upon successful completion, the case against him would be dismissed and no charges would be filed.
“Brendan accepted the prosecutor’s offer to allow him to enter a diversion program, which upon completion will result in the case against him being dismissed in its entirety,” Bieber said.
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office confirmed that they offered Paul the deal, which he accepted without question. They also confirmed that the agreement is standard for non-violent first-time offenders.
Paul expects to complete the program within six months.
Last month, Miami-Dade prosecutors charged the 25-year-old with cocaine possession, but they dropped another charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Although the former Syracuse University basketball player did not attend the hearing, his attorney Brian Bieber entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Paul was arrested at a Florida airport last month for possession of marijuana and cocaine as a federal investigation into the embattled bad boy record mogul’s alleged dealings began to heat up.
Rolling Stone initially reported that he was detained in late March. He was found at the Opa Locka Airport by Miami-Dade police, who have been working with the Department of Homeland Security, according to an affidavit.
A member of Paul’s family confirmed to the outlet that he had indeed been arrested, but it was unclear whether it had anything to do with the New York City brand executive.
Back in February, producer Lil Rod filed a lawsuit against Diddy after Paul was initially called a “mule,” with the lawsuit alleging that the man acted as a “getter.”[ing] and distribute[ing]For businessmen…drugs and guns”.
Hours after Paul’s arrest, Diddy was intercepted by federal authorities at a Miami airport. This happened shortly after the Department of Homeland Security raided his homes across the United States.
