Desiigner opened up about his physical and mental state during an indecent exposure incident on an international flight in 2023.
In a recent interview, the “Panda” hitmaker detailed his arrest for exposing his genitals last April and the incident on a flight from Tokyo to Minneapolis. Recounting his incident on the plane, DeSigna explained that he believes a drastic change in his eating habits, as well as his medication regimen, were partly to blame.
“I didn’t know what I was doing,” DeSigner said.
“Yeah, I didn’t know what I was doing. I was totally crazy. This was when I went vegetarian. I didn’t have enough sugar and s##t. Stuff like that. Yeah. So it was like, I just It’s like it’s out of my body. It’s an OBE. [Outer Body] Experience, words. That’s really not my role. Just like the word brother. I was on medication and I took my medication and Word and fell asleep on the plane.
DeSigner, whose real name is Sidney Selby, was sentenced to two years’ probation and fined $5,000. His sentence includes 120 hours of community service and an order to undergo a psychological, psychiatric or mental health evaluation.
As a result of the plea agreement, Desiigner avoided jail time, where he could have been incarcerated for up to 90 days. Although he has managed to deal with the legal consequences of his actions, DeSigna went on to explain that he is focused on rebuilding his image because he fears people might label him a predator.
“I just thought, yo, just thought, damn, I hope no one thinks I’m, I’m a pervert or anything,” he said. “That’s not what I’m all about. You feel me? I’m all about love and keeping things going and stuff like that.

Authorities said DeSigner exposed his genitals multiple times and masturbated at least once on the flight from Tokyo to Minneapolis. As a result, he was charged with indecent exposure on a plane. Following the incident, Designer previously issued a statement on the matter on his personal Instagram account.
“I haven’t been feeling well for the past few months and I’ve been trying to come to terms with what’s going on,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “I had to be admitted to hospital while performing overseas and I didn’t think it through.
“They gave me medication and I had to fly home. I am ashamed of my behavior on that plane. I returned to the United States and admitted that I was in a facility that could help me.
