Day 2 canceled due to bad weather

Reminders for Jack Harlow’s inaugural Gazebo Festival on Sunday (May 26) have been canceled due to inclement weather. The music festival in Louisville, Ky., issued a statement early Sunday afternoon after considering the status of that day’s event and choosing to cancel the event for the safety of everyone involved.

“The safety of our patrons, artists and staff is of the utmost importance. Due to hazardous conditions continuing throughout the early afternoon and a second wave of weather expected tonight, we have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the Pavilion Festival decision,” the statement read. “All Sunday ticket holders will receive a full refund. All weekend ticket holders will receive a 50% refund. Refunds will be issued within 30 days.

Harlow took to Instagram Stories to express the difficult decision to cancel the rest of the festival. “Excellent. We have to cancel Gazebo for the next day,” he wrote. “We are currently on a tornado watch. I know things have improved a bit, but the severe weather has wreaked havoc on the scene, and there are more storms and dangerous winds to come. That means everyone for the next day, including Myself, I won’t be performing anymore. I’m trying to focus on the positive because all I felt yesterday was happiness. I’m so grateful for our perfect first day and the unity of this city. I’m so sorry. .

The first day of Gazebo Fest brought several exciting performances led by SZA, Vince Staples, Majid Jordan, Larry June, Raven Lenae, Jordan Ward, and a DJ set by James Blake. Gazebo Fest, a fusion of hip-hop, R&B and DJ styles, got off to a promising start, with the two-day event attracting thousands of fans, especially out-of-town fans, who were excited to see Harlow’s vision come to life.

“It’s too bad. I’ve always wanted to see Jack Harlow in person and it was great to see him. I’m very disappointed that the concert was cancelled. Nonetheless, I understand that our safety comes first,” said the soldier who died this year Olujimi Awoliyi, a fan who traveled from New York to see Harlow perform over Memorial Day weekend, told Billboard.

Sunday’s lineup initially features Harlow headlining alongside popular acts such as Pink Pantheress, Amaraee and Omar Apollo, continuing the “Lovin on Me” star’s eclectic theme. Although Harlow did not officially take his first festival bow tonight, he still thanked his city for showing up with him, posting a photo of himself enjoying yesterday’s festivities on his Instagram Stories.

“Yesterday was a perfect day. Thank you, Louisville,” he wrote.
