Key Largo, FL-based host Darby O’Trill and Las Vegas, NV-based producer, host and fashion designer Shaggytheairhead are in Darby to collaborate with Chapter 17 Records founder/Psychopathic Records recording artist Ouija Macc on the release of Anemoia A month later they teamed up to produce a new collaborative LP which received great acclaim. These guys have collaborated on many songs in the past, such as “Street Trash” and “Greaper Shorts” to name a few, so it was really a matter of time before they took it to the next level and got together to release 10 Bandz produced by Devereaux.
“It’s Dem Again” starts off with this weird trap intro talking about both of them getting back to being this asshole, while “BULLSHIT” eliminates any bullshit people are trying to bring in with the gloomy backdrop and hi-hats. “Put ‘Em in the Dump Truck” features a bouncing flare telling others to just shut up and enter “The Box” in hopes of putting all their opponents in coffins. “Neva Mines” threatens to take your whip and bitch at the same time because they find you lacking, but then the morbid “Fuck Shit” talks about undeniably trying to get yourself involved in some shit.
Meanwhile, in Perpetually Drifting Through the Void, we get Darby & Shaggy’s haunting portrait of what it’s like on the other side, just before Street Trash 3 becomes the final installment in the titular trilogy, and Piecemeal begins Well, “Lazy & Crazy” continues. “SQUAD” near the end of the LP, talking aggressively about things that people will never understand because they didn’t have any shit before “FUTG” (Fuck Up The Game), closing out the 10 with a fog trap atmospheric instrumental Both hosts of the band began to continue to screw up the game.
10 Bandz is the first collaborative album to be released on C17, where Ouija isn’t one of the two artists performing together, instead choosing the label’s only other current artist, even giving one of their in-house producers A chance to shine on this album. Needless to say: I loved it as much as last month’s Anemoia. Darby O’Trill and Shaggytheairhead have been working with each other for years, and they just brought in one of the underground’s hottest producers, Devereaux, to up their chemistry.
