Danny Brown humorously recounted his first meeting with Pharrell, expressing how he was fascinated by the versatile artist.
On a recent episode of Drink Champs, the Detroit host was asked about his interactions with industry heavyweights like Pharrell, Andre 3000 and more.
“I met him once and I thought I might weird him out because I couldn’t stop following him,” he began, talking about meeting Pharrell at 56:00.
“But, that was a mistake,” he added with a smile. “Because there was an aura around him. Like a light. I didn’t mean to do it. I couldn’t stop myself. It was like I was just attracted to n-gga men.”
He continued: “Wherever he goes, I think I’m going there too. It’s like I don’t know there’s such a thing as a kindred spirit. I can’t explain it. I can’t stop following n-gga
“I couldn’t stop following n-gga. I know his reaction was, ‘What the fuck is wrong with this n-gga? “But I can’t stop following that n-gga man,” he finally emphasized again, “I didn’t mean to.”
Late last year, the “YBP” rapper released his sixth full-length to critical acclaim.
In an interview shortly after the release of “HipHopDX,” he discussed his lifestyle changes and choosing to pursue sobriety in the public eye.
“I’m kind of like an open book,” he said of announcing he was in rehab in early 2023 when his joint album with JPEGMAFIA was released. “In a sense, it also helps me […] Now, it’s like if I mess up, relapse or whatever, I’m going to fail in front of the world, my entire fanbase. “
He added: “I didn’t want to let them down, so they went on this journey with me. They also gave me a lot of encouragement to keep me on the straight and narrow. I would get a message and they would say, “Man, you’re 117 days old [sober]』——I received this message, they are counting the days […] Things like this keep me motivated. “
