The Reasonable Doubt saga continues. 2024 is defined by feuds over records, but the tension between Dame Dash and JAY-Z over the latter’s debut album is just as compelling. Dame Dash owns 1/3 of this album. He publicly promoted the sale of his share to the highest bidder and went to great lengths to make the deal attractive. Dame Dash further increased the prize money by announcing on August 19 that he would give away a Roc-A-Fella chain to anyone who agreed to purchase one-third of the album (along with Roc-A-Fella, Inc).
“I’m getting a lot of calls, a lot of invitations from people I don’t know,” Dash told his Instagram followers. He then expressed some displeasure with those trying to undercut the $10 million asking price. “That’s because they want to buy it,” he asserted. “If you really want to buy 1/3 of Roc-A-Fella, Inc.,” Dame Dash pointed out. “Anything over 10 million, I’ll add some money. You’ll get an original Roc-A-Fella chain from around my neck.” The co-founder claims to be the only person to hand out Roc-A-Fella during the brand’s heyday. A-Fella chain people. “If I don’t give you a chain, it’s not a legitimate Roc-A-Fella chain,” he declared.

Dame Dash, a former businessman, evoked an iconic Roc-A-Fella moment in his speech. He reminded fans of the moment he gave Kanye West a necklace during a 2003 concert. “If you’re going to call, please do it with the intention of spending some real money.” Dame Dash’s post comes days after the music executive expressed displeasure with JAY-Z’s legal representation. A document filed by the rapper’s attorneys states that the rights to “Reasonable Doubt” will be transferred to him in 2031.
“They can say whatever they want and it’s still selling,” Dash said. “What you are buying is not the copyright, but a part of ROC A FELLA INC. Please ask seriously!” Big names such as Drake and Kendrick Lamar are considered potential buyers, but No one made a serious bid attempt. Lupe Fiasco suggested that Drake buy a portion of the album. Meanwhile, fans are urging Lamar to step in as he considers “Reasonable Doubt” to be one of the best releases ever. Either way, Dash will keep the world informed.
